Allow me to share with you a personal revelation that has transformed my outlook on life: the importance of speaking life over my life. I know the power of that, because Proverbs 18:21 says, "life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
It's a simple practice God places in all of us that helps shape our thoughts, emotions, and our reality.
I remember the time I was sitting in a chair that was donated by my church. I had not had my furniture delivered yet and I had nothing. I was thinking how in the world did I get here? I was in such a great place just a short year ago and now I found myself in a strange southern very rural town with no furniture and no job. I had sunk into a non-clinical depression and I regretted leaving the Air Force. I will never forget that feeling of being so low. Yet, I knew my situation and my mindset were temporary. I knew there was more and I knew I had options. I got up out of that chair and started making phone calls for help. After a few short weeks I was able to to pay for my furniture to be delivered and I got delivered too! That was around 2000 and my life changed forever when I gave it over to Christ Jesus.
What we think and what we say matters.
What helped me was the positive affirmations and uplifting self-talk I spoke over my life. I discovered the transformative power of God and His love for me. I discovered the real power of what happens when we speak life over our lives. I didn't let negative self-talk and self-doubt dominate my inner or outer dialogue. I didn't dwell on my shortcomings. I did the work and the work was done.
I believe in positive affirmations and declarations of empowerment. That's why I love doing vision boards at my in-person events. I believe in focusing on my strengths and capabilities, rather than entertaining thoughts of failure. Back in 2000, I embraced a mindset of resilience and possibility instead of doom and gloom. And I am able to do what you see me doing as a result. I am able to do more for myself and for the Christian powerhouse women I serve, because of my positive mindset. Do you see yourself as a Christian powerhouse too?
With God, all things are possible (Mark 9:23).
Speaking life over our lives is a powerful practice that will change our lives from the inside out. If you're in a situation right now, there IS a way out. There is better for you. Your situation is temporary just as mine was.
