Have you ever found yourself caught up in the routine of daily life, always saying "I'll start tomorrow" or "I'll do it later"? It's easy to put off things that we ant to do.
When I first starting blogging (this is my new one), I waited and waited. Almost like someone had to give me permission to start. "Hey Sharon, you may blog now." That's how it was in my life though. I let people run me. Although I thought I was confident (and I was in certain areas of my life), I wasn't really as confident as I thought.
Then one day, I decided to just say, the heck with it, the heck with everyone who is not really routing for me. I'm doing it! And that was in 2013. Now here we are. Look around and see all the wonder of the Lord. What He puts in us to fight another day of faith.
What are you waiting for? Does my story sound like yours? If so, please move faster than I did, because the truth is, tomorrow never really comes. The only time we have is now and it's up to us to make the most of it. So why not start something today?
If anyone knows how scary it is to take that first step, that's your girl. I know all about fear as you're coming to realize as you read my blog and listen to my podcast. Still, I know you must start, because faith without works is dead (James 2:17). Comon' somebody. This is what's up ladies: whether it's starting a blog, learning a new skill (public speaking perhaps?), or chasing your dream, just do something. The important thing is to just start. Take that first step, no matter how small it may seem. It's often said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and it's true. Every great achievement started with someone taking that first step. If I can do it, anyone can. Trust and believe that.
So, what is it that you want to start today? Speaking on the virtual or live stage? Telling your story to help other women? Writing that book you've always wanted to write? Signing up for that dance class you've been eyeing? I'm thinking about Salsa myself, let's goooooo. I already started playing pickleball and it's actually pretty fun. I'm about to sign up for clinic 2, then I can join a league. I'm excited and quite surprised I'm into pickleball, but in life we grow and change, right? I also took swimming lessons last year and now I know how to swim. I have a long way to go, but I started ladies, I started. Ang guess what? I survived and so will you. It doesn't matter what area you want to improve in, you will when you begin the process and keep going.
No matter what is you want to do, do it right now, don't wait for the perfect moment or the right time. The perfect moment is now, and the right time is always. Don't let fear or doubt hold you back like it did me all those years ago. Embrace the uncertainty and the unknown, because that's where growth and new opportunities lie. Take a chance on yourself and believe in your ability to make things happen.
Remember, yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not guaranteed. The only time we have is now. So go ahead, take that first step, and start something amazing today. You never know where it might lead you.
