Hey Speakers: Is Your Podcast Title Attracting Listeners or Retracting Them?

Updated: Oct 22

As speakers, podcast titles are crucial for several reasons:

  • First Impressions Matter. Your podcast title is often the first thing potential listeners see. A strong title can convey the value of your content while a vague or confusing one can cause people to overlook it & keep it moving. I understand the challenge in creating an interesting and revelant title, because I sometimes go through that with my podcast. AI has helped tremendously and I use it. Just type in something like, ‘podcast titles for [insert your topic]’ and you’ll be on your way to creating more impressive titles for your podcast!

  • A Catchy Title Attracts Listeners. Think about it, don’t you click on topics that spark your interest? If you have bland, unclear, or incomplete titles, you run the risk of very low engagement on your podcast, because potential listeners don’t know what you’re talking about. They will move on very quickly.

  • Audience Targeting is Impactful. A well-chosen title can appeal to your target demographic by speaking directly to their interests or pain points, making it more likely that they will click and listen. No matter how great we think our episodes are, people who don’t know us, will not click for the sake of clicking. So take the time to think about your title. Potential listeners won’t click if they don’t have a reason to.

Those are just a few tips to think about on your speaking journey if you have a podcast or desire to have one. A podcast will continue to help you build your speaker brand, so take titles seriously.
