Building a Godly Speaker Brand Takes Time

Updated: 5 days ago

I won't lie, doing what God told us to do is not the easiest thing in the world to do. Although He's given me so many great ideas to build the Women of Movement Speaking Club, it still remains one of the most challenging and tedious things I've ever done. Sometimes it can even get overwhelming, but guess what? God is still on the throne and He is with me during the highs and the lows and the peaks and the valleys. Say it with me ladies, "I'm blessed in the city and blessed in the field" (Deuteronomy 28:3), so we cannot fail. Believe that.

I say all of that to say, building a godly, strong, and reputable speaker brand doesn't even remotely come over night, yet it will come. It just requires dedication, strategic planning, and consistent effort. Easier said than done, yet very doable. Here are some key steps to help you on your journey:

1. Define Your Niche and Unique Value Proposition (UVP):

- Identify your audience, area of expertise, and what sets you apart from other speakers.

- Develop a clear and compelling message that resonates with your target audience.

2. Develop Your Personal Brand (there's only one you):

- Create a professional and polished image, including a memorable logo, tagline, and color scheme (do these as you build).

- Invest in high-quality professional headshots and promotional materials.

3. Create Valuable Content Consistently (show up on at least one platform the same day and time):

- Produce and share high-quality content regularly, such as blog posts, videos, podcasts, and social media updates (I decided my podcast will publish every Tuesday at 5:30am EST).

- Offer valuable insights, tips, and knowledge that showcase your expertise.

4. Build an Online Presence (people need to be able to find you):

- Develop a professional website that includes your bio, speaking topics, testimonials, and a way for potential clients to contact you.

- Utilize social media platforms to engage with your audience and promote your content.

5. Network and Collaborate (it's about community-building, so join something):

- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to connect with other professionals.

- Collaborate with other speakers, influencers, and organizations to expand your reach.

6. Seek Speaking Opportunities (paid and unpaid for exposure):

- Start with smaller speaking engagements to build your experience and portfolio.

- Reach out to event organizers, schools, businesses, and community organizations to offer your speaking services.

7. Gather and Showcase Testimonials (ask people to give one, the right ones will):

- Collect testimonials and feedback from your speaking engagements to build credibility.

- Display these testimonials prominently on your website and promotional materials.

8. Continuously Improve (we have never arrived):

- Invest in your own personal and professional development through courses, workshops, and coaching.

- Stay updated with industry trends and adapt your strategies accordingly.

9. Be Consistent and Patient (greatness takes time to manifest):

- Consistency is key in building a strong brand. Keep delivering value and engaging with your audience.

- Understand that building a godly speaker brand takes time, persistence, and patience.
